The Goals of The Wishspring Foundation
We firmly believe that the best way to fight poverty and the unhappiness that accompanies it is through education. Education is the most proven mechanism to help people around the world create opportunities for themselves, is arguably the most sustainable activity known to man, and is relatively inexpensive to implement.
We are tax-exempt under US Tax Exemption under IRS code 501(c)3.
We have formally defined the goals and underlying motivations that govern our organization:
- To assist schools, both foreign and domestic, in raising funds for construction, administration, supplies, transportation, and any other needs that might arise from a school attempting to grow or improve the level of education offered.
- To assist communities in raising funds to accomplish construction projects, programs, activities, and any other community-supported venture that results in a widespread benefit for the community as a whole. Particular emphasis will be placed on programs and activities designed for children.
- To assist those groups (schools and communities) that would otherwise have a difficult or impossible time reaching their goals without outside intervention. Isolated, impoverished, undereducated, and neglected groups will be the focus of all assistance.
- Serious efforts will made to ensure that any project given assistance by The Wishspring Foundation, Inc. will be of a sustainable nature and not require ongoing or long-term financial commitment. Sustainability will be a core focus in all activities conducted.
- To ensure transparency among all parties involved; clear usage guidelines will restrict the usage of donated funds. Additionally, donors will be given complete control over which project their money is directed, and safeguards will be put in place to prevent donated money from going to other projects or administrative costs unintended by the originating donor.
- To ensure that administrative overhead of the organization remains at a bare-minimum by imposing strong regulation on money expenditure, particularly with respect to employee compensation. Donations destined for a community project or school will never be used for administrative overhead.
To ensure proper use of donated funds, and to help steer the organization, we have established a committed, capable Board of Directors. Its members are:
- Tyson Malchow
- Denis Foo Kune
- Tavia Trulson
- Carson Christiano
- Nate Skoog
We pride ourselves in using zero donated funds toward administrative overhead - such as employee compensation, utilities, etc. At the present time, The Wishspring Foundation, Inc. has a sole volunteer employee, Tyson Malchow. Additionally, all legal fees, website construction, etc. have been donated by Tyson.
